eVerybody’s talking about eBay

The Toledo-Lucas County Public Library presents, eVerybody’s talking about eBay, scheduled from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on Saturday, April 28, 2007, at the Holland Branch Library, 1032 S. McCord Road.

 

Be a part of the worldwide marketplace with power seller Becky Locke-Gagnon, who demonstrates how to list an item for sale and answer questions about photos, PayPal, categories and more.

 

Computer programmer Pierre Omidyar founded the online auction Web site eBay in San José, California in 1995.  The very first item sold on eBay was a broken laser pointer for $14.83 by a bidder who collected such items. Happy 10th Anniversary ARTHUR!

Come and join ARTHUR, the book and TV animated series, and celebrate his 10 years on PBS while enjoying stories, film clips, activities and refreshments on Saturday, April 21, Monday, April 23, and Wednesday, April 25, 2007.

 

This program, funded through a grant from WGBH Boston, and sponsored by the Library and WGTE TV, Toledo, allows each family to receive a fun take-home activity pack, including a free book.  This program is designed for children in grades K-2 with an adult.

Beginning Genealogy: Ever wondered how to find your ancestors?

The Toledo-Lucas County Public Library presents Beginning Genealogy, two workshops covering resources at the Library and on the Internet scheduled from 9:30-11:30 a.m. on Saturday, April 28, 2007 and Saturday, May 5 in the Sky Bank Meeting Room at Main Library, 325 Michigan Street, Toledo.

 

Donna Christian and Irene Martin, of Main Library’s Local History and Genealogy Department, present the workshops.

 

On April 28, the workshop will begin with an overview on where to look for the information you need to get started, and at 10:30 a.m. the lecture will cover how to use U.S. Census records to aid in your search.

 

On May 5, the workshop will begin with learning about resources available in the Local History and Genealogy Department, and at 10:30 a.m. the lecture will cover online resources such as Ancestry/Heritage Quest and the Internet.
