Authors! Authors! 2007 Spring Series
The 2007 spring Authors! Authors! (presented by The Blade and arranged by the Toledo-Lucas County Public Library) offers the community a lineup of authors for readers of every interest—from Latino cooking to intrigue in the Middle East.
All Authors! Authors! events are scheduled to begin at 7:00 p.m. and are held at the Stranahan Theater Great Hall, 4645 Heatherdowns Blvd. Tickets are $10 per person, $8 for students, or $27 for the entire spring author series. Tickets are available for purchase at all Toledo-Lucas County Public Library locations and are limited in quantity.
Authors scheduled for the spring 2007 series:
Tuesday, March 20 – Jodi Picoult, Popular Bestseller
Author of Vanishing Acts, and her newest novel, The Tenth Circle. Picoult is the best-selling writer of 13 novels. In 2003 she was awarded the New England Bookseller Award for Fiction. The Long Island native published her first book in 1992, titled Songs of the Humpback Whale.
Thursday, April 19 – Matthew Bogdanos, Marine colonel and New York City Prosecutor
A Gulf War vet who has degrees in law and the classics, and is a former boxer and student of ancient civilizations. As a prosecutor in the Manhattan District Attorney’s office, he handled the case against
Sean “Puffy” Combs (now known as P. Diddy or Diddy). Bogdanos was called to active duty after 9/11, and he investigated the theft and destruction at the Iraqi National Museum.
Tuesday, May 8 – Daisy Martinez, PBS Cooking Show Host
Martínez, host of Daisy Cooks! which airs on PBS, is passionate about her culture’s food. She familiarizes her show’s viewers with food markets and favorite ingredients of the Latino kitchen. Martínez is known for demonstrating simple steps to make Latino-inspired cuisine, while teaching techniques passed down from her mother and grandmother. See www.daisycooks.com
