An evening with Sandra Cisneros

 

As a prelude to FLOC’s convention and banquet on Sept. 30, 2006, FLOC and the Toledo-Lucas County Public Library present: “An Evening with Author Sandra Cisneros,” scheduled from 6:00-8:30 p.m. Friday, Sept. 29 at the South Branch Library, 1736 South Broadway.

 

Cisneros, known for her poetry and short story collections, has garnered popular success for stories, which draw heavily upon her childhood experiences and ethnic heritage as the only daughter among seven children of a Mexican father and chicana mother. 

 

The author, born in 1954 in Chicago, is author of works including: The House on Mango Street, Woman Hollering Creek and Other Stories, and My Wicked, Wicked Ways. She addresses topics such as gender roles, poverty, self-identity, and ethnicity in her collection of stories, books, and poems.
