University events taking place in celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month, which runs through Oct. 15.
Sept. 15 through Oct. 15: “Traveling through Time with Eugenia Rios,” an exhibition in honor of Hispanic Heritage Month, is on display through Oct. 15 in Central Michigan University's Multicultural Education Center on the lower level of the Bovee University Center. The exhibition showcases photographs taken in South America by CMU alumna Eugenia Rios during her study abroad experiences. Hours are 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Mondays through Wednesdays and 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Thursdays and Fridays. Admission is free and open to the public. Sept. 25:Central Michigan University's Minority Student Services will host "Under Construction," a lecture by Jackie Guerra, at 7 p.m. Sept. 25 in the Bovee University Center Auditorium. Guerra, an actress, motivational speaker and author of the book "Under Construction," is best known for her role in the movie "Selena." Admission to the presentation, which is the keynote address for CMU's celebration of Hispanic Heritage

Sept. 28: Central Michigan University's Minority Student Services will Host: “A Taste of Latin Culture and Flavor" from 5 to 7 p.m. Sept. 28 in the Bovee University Center Rotunda. The event, which will feature Latin food tasting and live entertainment, is part of CMU's celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month. Admission costs $3 for students and $5 for all others. Oct. 3: Central Michigan University's Office of Residence Life and Minority Student Services will host a performance of the play "Yo Soy Latina!" at 7 p.m. Oct. 3 in Warriner Hall's Plachta Auditorium. The play features the stories of six Latina women and examines the racial and cultural differences among various Latino backgrounds. Admission is free and open to the public. Oct. 13: Central Michigan University's Minority Student Services will host "Career Success: 'Key Tips and Lessons Learned' from Latino and Latina Professionals" at 2 p.m. Oct. 13 in the Multicultural Education Center on the lower level of the Bovee University Center. In this interactive session, CMU Latino and Latina alumni will share their advice regarding the keys to success in their respective career fields. Admission is free and open to the public. Oct. 14: Central Michigan University's Latino Alumni Constituent Chapter will host a tailgating celebration from 9:30 a.m. to noon Oct. 14 in the parking lot north of Kelly/Shorts Stadium.
