Vásquez receives TPPA endorsement

La Prensa Staff

Bob Vásquez, candidate for a Toledo City Council at large seat, received the endorsement of the Toledo Police Patrolmen’s Association on Monday.

1
“He realizes that this is not a field of dreams – you cannot build something and hope they will come,” said Officer Dan Wagner, president of the TPPA. “When people start to feel safe [they will come]. Bob has taken steps to ensure increased police presence in neighborhoods.”

“I am the only candidate that has consistently made the safety of the citizens of Toledo my number one priority,” said Vásquez in acknowledging the endorsement. “I believe that a safe city is the foundation on which economic vitality is based.”

Vásquez, a Democrat, is competing for the at-large post vacated by the resignation of former Councilman Bob McCloskey. Other major candidates for the vacancy are appointed incumbent Democrat Lourdes Santiago, Democrat Joe McNamara, and Republican Dave Schulz.
