SS Peter and Paul Parish remembers Judge Flores
Three years ago, Judge Joseph A. Flores (Lucas County Common Pleas Court, Juvenile Division) passed away. His mass and funeral were one of the most elaborate in Lucas County memory, honoring a Latino that had contributed mightily to the community.
One of his wishes prior to his death was that benches be placed next to the garden area adjacent to the Virgin of Guadalupe Mural on the side of SS. Peter and Paul Church so that worshippers could pray comfortably.
His wish was honored Sunday in recognition mass and services in the garden area, with Father Richard Notter officiating.
A first ever Judge Joseph A. Flores banquet and fundraiser followed at Latins United Hall. Mexican cuisine was prepared by El Camino Real restaurant.
Mary Jane, the Judge’s widow, was very appreciative of donations to a special scholarship fund established at the University of Toledo School of Law.
