Buy a Christmas tree to help sweet Kaylee, born with rare, fatal disease

By buying a Christmas tree, you can help a Toledo-area girl with Progeria, a fatal disease that causes accelerated aging in children.

Afflicted Kaylee Halko is 3 years old and lives in Monclova, Ohio.

The Whitehouse Tree Farm on in Whitehouse, Ohio will donate 5 dollars to the Progeria Research Foundation, for every tree sold on Saturday, December 2nd and Sunday, December 3rd.

The Progeria Research Foundation is in the midst of a campaign to raise 2 million dollars for a drug trial on a potential drug treatment that doctors hope will help Kaylee and other Progeria kids

1

Progeria is extremely rare, affecting only about a dozen children in the entire country.   The children age 8 to 10 times faster than normal, and live on average until they’re 13-years-old, but this new drug may help slow the aging process.

Tree farm owners Duke and Martha Wheeler invite you to enjoy the true spirit of the holidays by helping Kaylee and her family and other such afflicted children. Come enjoy hot chocolate, hot dogs and a horse drawn wagon ride.

A canister will also be out to accept your donations.   Whitehouse Tree Farm is located at 11500 Obee Road in Whitehouse, Ohio, and is open Saturday and Sunday 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

You can also make a donation to the Progeria Research Foundation in Kaylee’s name at any 5/3 Bank branch. See www.whitehousetreefarm.com for details.
