United Way offering minority scholarship for leadership training

Toledo: United Way is accepting applications for a minority scholarship award to attend Leadership Toledo’s 2006 Community Leadership Development Training (CLDT).

The program runs from September to May and consists of a day-long session once a month, that introduces participants to community issues and concerns.  Sessions will focus on topics such as government, health care, diversity, media, economy, environment, education, and leadership.

The participants will develop their leadership skills and expand their knowledge and awareness of social issues for involvement in community affairs. “United Way supports this program to help changes lives in our community through leadership,” said Bill Kitson, president and CEO of United Way of Greater Toledo.

Application forms are available at United Way Volunteer Center, located at One Stranahan Square, or they can be downloaded from www.unitedwaytoledo.org and clicking on “United Way Volunteer Center.”

Applicants must work and/or reside in the greater Toledo area, be active and involved in the community, and commit to voluntary service after completion of the program. Applications must be postmarked by June 1, 2006.
