Adam McCabe is LASSO’s scholarship recipient

Last Sunday, the Latin American Student Support Organization (LASSO) of St. Francis de Sales High School in Toledo hosted its third annual scholarship fundraiser.

In celebration of this event and Cinco de Mayo, a variety of entertainment was on hand including: the Sigma Lambda Beta Fraternity’s Stroll Team (UT, Epsilon Alpha Chapter), folkloric dance by Imagenes Mexicanas, and music by La Famila De Hoyos.

To help raise scholarship funds for LASSO, a silent auction was held with dozens of donations by area individuals, organizations, and businesses, according to John Orozco, LASSO’s moderator.

“We wish to thanks everyone for these donations and participation,” said Orozco.

LASSO member and St. Francis de Sales HS Sophomore Adam McCabe was a recipient of LASSO’s $1,000 scholarship, to be applied to next year’s tuition. McCabe is active in LASSO and other school and community activities, including FLOC’s March for Justice.

McCabe is a member of the Blessed Sacrament Parish and is the son of Chris and Linda McCabe.

On hand was Adelante’s Alex Ramirez, who was the first recipient of a Latino scholarship at St. Francis de Sales and District 3 Toledo City Councilwoman Taylor Balderas.
