Esperanza hosts annual Fiesta of Hope Scholarship Luncheon

 

CLEVELAND: Esperanza, Inc. has informed La Prensa of its 16th Annual Fiesta of Hope Scholarship Luncheon, to be held on Friday, June 30, 2006 from 12:00 pm to 1:30 pm at Windows on the River in the Powerhouse at the Nautica Complex. 

 

The Fiesta of Hope celebrates the achievements of “our best and brightest youth!  It also provides funding for Esperanza’s scholarships, educational programming, our computer technology center, and operations,” according to Javier Pacheco and Bárbara Esperon of Esperanza, Inc.  

 

Scheduled activities will include a luncheon at noon, preceded by a reception to meet the scholarship recipients. 

 

Esperanza, Inc. is dedicated to providing quality educational services, advocacy and partnerships with the Metro-Cleveland community to ensure educational access for Latino students and believes that education nourishes minds and provides a vital sense of hope that inspires and revitalizes families, communities, and neighborhoods.

Esperanza announces Chino Nuñez Timbales Raffle

Esperanza, Inc., Tropical Rhythms, and Latin Percussion have announced a joint effort to benefit Esperanza, Inc. via a fundraiser on Friday, May 26, 2006, at Club Moda, with performances by Pablo “Chino” Nuñez and Ray Sepulveda.

 

Nuñez is a Grammy Award winning percussionist/timbalero with Spanish Harlem Orchestra. A veteran of the Latin music industry for over 30 years, he has performed and/or recorded with the legendaries Tito Puente, Celia Cruz, Ray Barretto, Hector Lavoe, Gran Combo, and Tito Nieves. 

 

Sepulveda is a prolific salsa artist with over fourteen albums to his credit and is a popular salsa singer.

 

Following his performance, Nuñez will donate a set of timbales, courtesy of Latin Percussion, to be raffled off with all proceeds benefiting Esperanza, Inc. 

 

Since its inception in 1983, Esperanza has assisted thousands of Latino youth, with educational programming, tutoring, mentoring, and college & career guidance. 

 

According to Esperanza, Inc., May 26th is sure to be a great night of Salsa music and dance at Club Moda with Timbalero Chino Nunez and Ray Sepulvedo.
