Latinos in the News

Stephan Vásquez has joined the United Way of Greater Toledo team, as a development officer. 

“Stephen brings a fresh enthusiasm and insight to United Way. We anticipate that his involvement in our development activities especially the Latino Initiative, will change lives and have an impact on all United Way efforts in our community,” said Jane Moore, Vice President of Development. 

Vásquez is a member of the University of Toledo’s Latino Youth Summit Committee, the Farm Labor Organizing Committee’s (FLOC’s) March for Justice (which is scheduled for April 12), the Diamante Awards steering committee, and  ECHHO (Educators and Community Helping Hispanics Onward). Vásquez is also a mentor for Adelante, Inc.

Stephan Vásquez

Vásquez, a native of Toledo, is a graduate of St. Francis De Sales High School. He graduated with a BA in Public Policy and Administration from Ohio University where he was a member of Sigma Alpha Mu fraternity.  He was also involved with student government and completed a summer internship with the City of Toledo.

While attending Lourdes College in Sylvania, Vásquez co-founded its first Latino student union, was part of the Hispanic/Latino Advisory Council to its president, and hosted a number of programs for Latino youth. He also was a member of the planning committees and boards for Lourdes’ Latino Career Day and the Diamante Awards.
