19th Annual Interfaith Blood Drive scheduled
The 19th Annual Interfaith Blood Drive will be held on Saturday and Sunday, June 24 and 25 at Grace Lutheran Church, 4441 Monroe St., Toledo. The hours for both days are from 9:00 am – 3:00 pm. This drive is open to the public and walk-ins are welcome. Everyone who presents to give blood at the drive will receive a key chain.
On Sunday, June 25 at 7:30 pm, a service will be held at Fairgreen Presbyterian located at 3220 West Laskey. After the service a reception will follow.
June is unity month in Northwest Ohio and Interfaith weekend and the Interfaith service will conclude unity month.
“Interfaith brings people of all faiths and beliefs together to save lives. It helps break down the walls of prejudice and bias for any and all people,” said Dorothy Friedrich, Interfaith Drive Chairperson.
The Interfaith Committee is comprised of representatives of Houses of Worship of different denominations throughout the Toledo area.
“Blood donations unfortunately decrease in the summer months, the success of the Interfaith blood drive is very important to help ensure adequate blood supplies over the 4th of July holiday.
We need to ensure a steady supply of blood and if people want to do something they can call the Red Cross at 1-800 GIVE LIFE to schedule a donation appointment. This helps ensure that blood is always available in time of need.
All those who are eligible to donate both blood and platelets are urged to do so as soon as possible. To donate blood you must be at least 17 years old, weigh at least 110 pounds, be in general good health and provide a valid photo ID upon donation.
