Both promise to be premier, business-packed exhibitions.
HBA has been hosting this premier event in Michigan for five years, with the past two years being chaired by Enrique Carrillo. With the departure of Enriquez, who moved to Virginia to assume duties as a Vice President of Chase, HBA’s board of directors had announced that Linda Forte, senior vice president of Business Affairs for Comerica and a member of its Management Council, had agreed to serve as the corporate chairperson for the Expo.
Ms. Forte, who oversees diversity efforts nationally for Comerica, said, “I am very pleased to continue to support the Hispanic community on behalf of Comerica and in support of the HBA. Our relationship with the Hispanic community is an important one, and I look forward to reinforcing that commitment most immediately with my efforts as chairperson for the HBA Expo.”
“Comerica has been a long-term supporter of the HBA,” said Frederick Feliciano, President and Chairman of the Board for the Hispanic Business Alliance.
“Our corporate sponsors have supported the HBA Expo because they believe in the financial empowerment of the Hispanic community. They understand the growing base of Hispanics in our population is vital to the continued growth of their businesses,” Feliciano added.
Steve Thomas, Vice President and General Manager for Comcast Cable serves as the event Vice Chairperson. Joseph Reyes, President of Integrated Media Technologies, and Vice President, Treasurer for the HBA Board of Directors, serves as Hispanic Co-Chair.
Benjamin Negron, Store Director for Meijer in Adrian and president of HOLA, serves as a co-chair.
Since the HBA began the Expo, corporate sponsor participation has grown exponentially. In 2006, presenting sponsors include: Comerica, Comcast Cable, and Meijer. General Motors and National City Bank have both returned as well, and new sponsors such as Kellogg Co., Blue Cross/Blue Shield, Credit Union ONE, GMAC, Oakwood Hospital, Microsoft, Mullen Advertising, and Staples signal the confidence corporations have in the Expo.
The 2006 Hispanic Business Expo is scheduled for September 6-7, 2006 at the Detroit Marriott. Attendance is expected to exceed 1,500. A complete scheduled is listed at the HBA Web site and www.laprensa1.com. Participants can meet with an anticipated 200 exhibitors and attend workshops sponsored in part by the University of Michigan.
Keynote Speaker
Univision, which reaches 98% of all U.S. Latino television households, will bring the voice of the Latino consumer to the Expo in the form of keynote speaker Michael Wortsman, President of the Univision Television Group.
“The Hispanic Business Alliance, through its annual Expo, connects Hispanic-owned businesses to the economic engine. Our corporate buyers understand their future is based on diverse customers and the economic empowerment of those customers is vital to their future growth.
“Michael Wortsman will provide another dimension of understanding about the Hispanic consumer because Univision is truly representative of this audience,” said HBA’s Feliciano.
