OCRC and EEOC hosts Hispanic/Latino Community Forum in Defiance
In observance of National Hispanic Heritage Month, The Ohio Civil Rights Commission (OCRC) and the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) will co-host an evening discussion with the Defiance-area Hispanic/Latino community at the Defiance Community College, Schomburg Auditorium in Dana Hall 701 N. Clinton Street in Defiance, Ohio on Thursday, September 22, 2005 6:30-8:30pm. The event, entitled, “Know Your Housing and Employment Rights,” will allow the agencies and the community to share information and experiences.
“This bilingual community forum will not only give that area’s Spanish-speakers vital information about their rights, but will allow our agencies to learn more about the needs of the community and ways to effective address those needs,” said OCRC Executive Director, G. Michael Payton.
“EEOC is looking forward to participating in this important bilingual community forum and partnership with the other agencies involved,” said James R. Neely Jr., District Director of the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission.
More than 100 attendees are expected to attend the free program. Other participating organizations are Defiance College, The Ohio Commission on Hispanic/Latino Affairs, and the Hispanic Awareness Organization. This forum is free and all are welcome to attend.
