Catholic Charities’ SSIC to host an awards’ baile for HHM
Burton, MI: On October 15th, Catholic Charities’ Spanish Speaking Information Center (SSIC) hosts an awards celebration and dance, entitled Celebrando Juntos, at the Holy Redeemer Life Center, featuring refreshments, dancing, and special entertainment from groups such as Mariachi Chantaca, El Ballet Folklorico Estudiantil, and Group Estilo.
The evening will also feature a special guest appearance from Mexican Consul Antonio Meza Estrada.
“National Hispanic Heritage Month is a great way for people of all backgrounds to celebrate the contributions people of Latino cultures have made to our society,” said Arminda García, Advisory Board Member of the SSIC. “We are looking forward to the Awards Celebration and Dance and believe that it will bring the community together for a true Hispanic Heritage celebration.”
The SSIC has been in existence since 1970 and is a 501(c)(3) agency. In December of 2003, the SSIC merged with Catholic Charities of Shiawassee and Genesee Counties. Services provided to the community include: parenting classes, translation and interpretation services, and support services for grandparents raising grandchildren. The SSIC also provides senior citizens of the same heritage an opportunity to socialize, network, and develop friendships.
