Minority Business Expo 2005 at LCCC on Nov. 30

Lorain County Community College (LCCC), the Lorain County Urban League, and the Multicultural Business Center are presenting the Lorain County Minority Business-to-Business Expo 2005 from 12:00-6:00 p.m., Wednesday, November 30 at the John A. Spitzer Conference Center.

The expo is for minority residents who want to learn how to start their own business and for established businesses that want to learn how to reach the minority market.

“With the exodus of many companies and the downsizing of others, those of us who want to see Northeast Ohio and Lorain County prosper, must make every effort to help start and grow minority businesses and connect these businesses to the overall economic development landscape of the

region,” said Fred Wright, president and CEO of the Lorain County Urban League.

The event includes a luncheon, exhibits, workshops and a networking reception. The luncheon keynote will be Myron Robinson, president and CEO of the Urban League of Greater Cleveland.

Workshops include:

• Writing Effective Business Plans

• Securing Funding for Your Business

• Minority Business Enterprise (MBE) Certification (Bidding for local, state, federal business)

• GLIDE: Accessing Free Business Consulting Services

• Turning Talent into Profit

• Using Technology to Advance Your Business

The expo will begin with a luncheon and keynote address by Robinson.

The workshops will follow and be offered twice during the afternoon so that attendees may participate in more than one workshop. They will run from

1:45-2:30 p.m. and again from 2:45-3:30 p.m.

After the workshops a networking reception with presentations by

Wright, and representatives from the Lorain County Commissioners and

Cuyahoga County Commissioners offices will be held from 4-6 p.m.

Registration for the expo is from 11:00 a.m. to noon.

Other partners of the Expo include the Northern Ohio Minority Business Council, the Lorain County Chamber of Commerce, the U.S. Small Business Administration and the Lorain County and Cuyahoga County Commissioners. Event tickets are $25 (includes lunch). Business sponsorships are also available. For more information, call (440) 213-7329, or (440) 323-3364, ext. 23. Or visit www.lorainccc.edu/expo.
