In the past, FLOC has aided the families of migrant farm workers, such as Raymundo Hernández and Urbano Ramírez. Both men lost their lives working in barbarous conditions. FLOC seeks to raise funds to be able to continually support the families of these two men and other families who have lost loved ones while working in unsafe environments in the United States .
This march is not only to raise money and increase awareness of the inhumane working conditions for migrant workers. It is a time to also celebrate the reconciliation between FLOC and the Mt. Olive Pickle Company, ending a five year boycott of its products.
You can help by marching with FLOC on April 13th, 2005 . The march will begin at noon . Supporters, including students from Toledo area schools, will assemble at the corner of Broadway and South Ave in Toledo . The participants will march down South Broadway Street to Western Avenue and onto Maumee Avenue .
The march will end at 1:30PM at Golden Rule Park . It will take place, rain or shine! Ask your friends and relatives to sponsor you for one block or the entire march. All participants are asked to pledge a minimum of $1.00.
