David Lee Garza

David Lee Garza y Los Musicales won the most awards, with three. Garza just came off of winning a Grammy for Best Tejano Recording in a compilation with Sunny Sauceda of Vida and Joel Gúzman, called Polkas, Gritos, y Acordeónes.

Garza y Los Musicales is scheduled to be the headliner at LatinoFest V in downtown Toledo , on June 11, 2005 . Garza has been with the Tejano music industry since he was a child—he started playing the accordion when he was a child, tutored by his father, Tony Garza.

The ceremonies were conducted at the Kickapoo Lucky Eagle Casino Complex, along the Texas-México border. It’s the first time the TMA ceremonies have been outside San Antonio , considered the capital of Tejano music. With 4,000 in attendance, one wonders if the move to Eagle Pass for TMA ’s 25th anniversary resulted in a lower turnout. Boycott San Antonio ?

Gary Hobbs of Eagle Pass was one of the MCs.
