The task force consists of 15 members who serve at the pleasure of the governor. Task force members review state efforts to prevent and prosecute elder abuse, identifying and prioritizing issues and challenges to prevent abuse, and provide recommendations to develop a plan to generate public awareness.
Romero is a member of the Wayne County Elder Abuse Advisory, Detroit Advisory on Elder Abuse, Detroit Hispanic Advisory Council and other community agencies in southwest Detroit . Romero also serves as president to the Hispanic Police Officers' Association of Michigan.
Romero serves with the Wayne County Senior Citizens Department, where he manages the Nutrition Program, Adult Daycare, Emergency Food Assistance Program, Liquid Nutrition Program and the Wayne County Family Center .
Prior to joining the Ficano administration in 2003, Romero worked with the Sheriff’s Office, developing safety conferences and other programs to benefit seniors. He had served with the U.S. Marine Corps, later becoming a Wayne County sheriff’s deputy.
Also attended Detroit Holy Redeemer High School Class of 78.
Romero lives in Wyandotte , with his wife Theresa and family and is a native of Bowling Green , Ohio .
