Asociación de negociantes celebra espíritu empresarial

El viernes, 10 de junio vio en el Marriott Key Center Hotel la celebración del veintitrés aniversario del Hispanic Business Association: Hispanic Chamber of Commerce de Ohio (HBA: HCCO).
El evento este año fue especial en ver un cambio de liderazgo. Ángel Guzmán después de trece años de servicio como ejecutivo de la organización dedicada a promover la formación, desarrollo y éxito de negocios hispanos ha decidido jubilarse para seguir otras actividades. Se instaló como director interino Daniel Porras, abogado y anteriormente empleado en varias posiciones al nivel de administración con Exxon-Mobil, BP y Deloitte & Touche.
En notas escritas Porras dice, “¡Este es la era del Latino! Debemos tomar ventaja de la oportunidad y trabajar juntos para el mejoramiento de empresas hispanas y la comunidad hispana”.
Rick Zamora, presidente de la directiva de HBA: HCCO dice que, “Vamos a enfocarnos sobre la implementación del plan estratégico, crear nuevas asociaciones, y mejorar las asociaciones anteriormente establecidas con los sectores privados y públicos”.
Acerca del anterior ejecutivo de la organización Zamora añade, “Deseo extender mi agradecimiento a Ángel Guzmán por su implacable y incansable dedicación al HBA: HCCO. Su fuerte trabajo y sacrificio ha ayudado la organización sobrevivir y superar muchos obstáculos a través de los años”.
Reconocimientos este año fueron a PS Promotions y Gala Partnership.
PS Promotions es una empresa que vende productos de promociones y servicios de mercadeo. Es encabezada por su fundadora Ingrid Rodríguez-Reichert. Ella empezó este negocio en el sótano de su casa. Original de la Republica Dominicana, Ingrid vino a Cleveland para estudiar negocios en Badwin-Wallace College.
La decisión de estudiar en Cleveland fue influida por, “Los Indios de Cleveland tener Dominicanos en el equipo, así debe ser una ciudad amigable a los hispanos”, cuenta Rodríguez-Reichert.
Gala Partnership es un grupo compuesto de familiares Reinaldo, Alejandro y Maria Galindo con Alfonso Sánchez. Sánchez es ejecutivo jubilado de la industria de construcción y los Galindo son de la familia dueña de los restaurantes mexicanos, Luchitas.
Este año el grupo abrió el almacén Gala Latino/American Supermarkets in Lorain. Su plan incluye tener tiendas de ventas al por menor, oficinas para servicios profesionales como los de abogados y contabilidad. El grupo piensa tener tienda que vende/renta videos y lavandería bajo el mismo techo. HBA: HCCO reporta que el grupo quiere llenar su espacio en el mercado con todas cosas hispanas.
“Vamos traer México a al noreste de Ohio”, dijo Reinaldo Galindo.
También recibieron reconocimientos: Miguel Quiñones de MQ Productions; Gilbert B. Goldberg de Cleveland District Office, Small Business Administration; Leo Serrano anteriormente ejecutivo del Comité Hispano-americano; y Barabara Gill-Esperon de Esperanza.

Business association celebrates entrepreneurial spirit

Cleveland: On Friday, June 10, at the Marriott Key Center Hotel, the Hispanic Business Association: Hispanic Chamber of Commerce de Ohio (HBA: HCCO) celebrated its twenty-third anniversary.
This year’s event was special because of the organization’s change of leadership. Ángel Guzmán leaves the executive officer position after thirteen years with the organization dedicated to the promotion of Latino business formation, development, and success to pursue his own business interests. Succeeding Guzman as interim executive is Daniel Porras, an attorney and previously employed in a variety of management positions with Exxon-Mobil, BP y Deloitte & Touche.
In his written comments, Porras says, “This is the era of the Latino! We need to take advantage of the opportunity and work together to improve Hispanic businesses and the Hispanic community.”
Rick Zamora, Chairman of the Board of HBA: HCCO says, “We will focus on implementing the strategic plan, establish new partnerships, and strengthen old relationships with both the private and public sectors.”
About the previous chief executive Zamora adds, “I would like to extend my personal thanks and gratitude to Ángel Guzmán for his relentless and tireless dedication to the HBA: HCCO. His hard work and sacrifice has helped the organization survive and overcome many obstacles throughout the years.”
Awards this year went to PS Promotions y Gala Partnership.
PS Promotions is an enterprise that sells promotional products and marketing services. The company is led by its founder, Ingrid Rodríguez-Reichert. She started the business in the basement of her home. Rodríguez-Reichert is originally from the Dominican Republic. She came to Cleveland to study business at Baldwin-Wallace College.
She recalls that her decision to study in Cleveland was influenced by her thinking at the time, “The Cleveland Indians have Dominicanos on their team, so it must be a Hispanic-friendly city.”
Gala Partnership is a group composed of siblings Reinaldo, Alejandro and María Galindo and Alfonso Sánchez. Sánchez is a retired executive from the construction industry and the Galindos are members of the family that owns the Mexican restaurants, Luchitas.
This year, the group opened the Gala Latino/American Supermarkets in Lorain. Plans include retail stores and offices for professional services like attorneys and accountants. The group wants to have video rental/sales and a launderette under the same roof. HBA: HCCO reports the group wants to fill the space in the mercado with everything Latino.
“We’re bringing México to Northeast Ohio,” says Reinaldo Galindo.
Also receiving recognitions were: Miguel Quiñones of MQ Productions; Gilbert B. Goldberg of the Cleveland District Office, Small Business Administration; Leo Serrano, the former director of the Spanish American Committee; and, Barbara Gill-Esperon of Esperanza.
