Rock with the Mud Hens and La Revancha on Latino Scholarship Day
It is baseball and scholarship time with this Sunday’s Latino Scholarship Day at Fifth Third Field in downtown Toledo .
While this July 17th game time with the Buffalo Bisons is 2:00PM , festivities begin at 12:30PM with Mariachi Zelaya outside the Home Plate gate and the awesome folkloric dance group Imagenes Mexicanas performing outside of the Third Base entrance. This event is sponsored by La Prensa and the Spanish American Organization (SAO).
Buckeye CableSystem will also be presenting Nickelodeon’s Dora the Explorer, who will be on hand near the Home Plate. Maracas will be given away by the Toledo Mud Hens to the first 1,000 fans in attendance. Kids can also run the bases after the game.
After the game, there is an afterparty at Club La Vista, at Locust and Summit Streets, with La Revancha of Bowling Green performing (Latino rock, jazz). “Show your Mud Hen Latino Day ticket stub and get in free,” said Hector Cordero, co-owner of La Vista.
“$3 of the $10 tickets sold by SAO and La Prensa will benefit the Latino students at the University of Toledo and Owens Community College, according to Bob Salazar of SAO. “The tickets are primarily in sections 117 and 118 and are outstanding seats,” said Salazar, “so, if you like baseball, check out the Mud Hens and Bisons, Cleveland ’s Triple A affiliate.”
