Nominations still being accepted for Estrella Award

Fremont: Terra Community College is still seeking nominations for the 2005 Estrella Award. For the sixth consecutive year, Terra Community College will honor a local member of the Hispanic community at the Estrella “Our Shining Star” Award Dinner on Sept. 22. The Estrella award was established to honor an area individual for outstanding character, citizenship, and community service.

Invitations will be mailed shortly. Dinner reservations are $15 and can be placed by calling 419-334-8400, ext. 338. Deadline is Sept. 12.

The previous winners of the Estrella Award are

2000 – Narciso Rodríguez, Fremont

2001 – Juan Salvador Olalde, Port Clinton

2002 – María Guadalupe “Lupe” López (posthumously), Fostoria

2003 - Jesus “Jesse” Zambrano, Fremont

2004 – Felipe “Felipito” Pérez, Findlay

The event coincides with Hispanic Heritage Month (Sept. 15-Oct. 15).
