United Way of Greater Lorain County Hosting Virtual and In Person Volunteer Recruitment Events

LORAIN, Oct. 13, 2021: As part of their Homecoming Month celebration this October, United Way of Greater Lorain County’s volunteer networks are hosting two “Trick or Treat Tour” events, inviting the community to learn more about volunteering as part of ServeUnited and the Free Tax Prep Coalition. One will be held in person and the other virtually.

“ServeUnited offers tangible ways to take a leadership role in increasing the capacity of United Way to support local families,” said ServeUnited Ambassador Kyle Maurer. “The group also has a lot of fun connecting and acting in impactful ways, both big and small, to make our community a great place to live.”

On October 20 from 5-6 p.m., the event will be held at the local United Way’s office at 642 Broadway Avenue in Lorain. It will feature an interactive tour during which attendees will learn about the different types of volunteer service, including involvement in the Fill the Bus school supply collection, the agency’s signature fundraiser, A Week at the Bee, and providing free tax prep services to local families. Optionally, participants can stay for a volunteer project sorting and inventorying donated items from 6-7:30 p.m.

On October 26 from 12-1 p.m., the agency will host a virtual version of the event on Zoom with opportunities to interact with current volunteers and staff members to learn more about the impact of volunteer service.

“While we all know volunteerism is a great way to give back to the community, it’s also an opportunity to grow personally and professionally,” said United Way’s marketing & engagement director Ashley Hampson. “We want folks to know that no matter their current skill level, we can find a way for them to make a big impact in the lives of local families and have fun while doing it!”
