Department of Economic Development to launch ‘Vibrancy Initiative’

Oct. 18, 2021: Toledo Mayor Wade Kapszukiewicz and City of Toledo Economic Development Commissioners Brandon Selhorst and Sandy Spang have announced the launch of the Vibrancy Initiative at 1217 Broadway, adjacent to FLOC and the Quintero Center.

The Vibrancy Initiative aims to improve the City of Toledo’s vitality by providing strategic investments for the improvement of commercial buildings that have fallen out of use or into disrepair.

The Vibrancy Initiative consists of the Façade Improvement Grant, First Floor Whitebox Grant and Community Reinvestment Area Program. Taken together, these programs improve the exterior appearance as well as the interior functionality of buildings.

According to the mayor, corridors like Broadway in South Toledo will benefit from these investments with jobs and small business creation, safer neighborhoods and closer proximity to usable commercial spaces for commerce.
