LUCAS COUNTY CHILDREN SERVICES BOARD NAMES 2021 SLATE OF
OFFICERS
TOLEDO, January 21, 2021: At its January 2021 meeting, the Lucas
County Children Services Board named its slate of officers
for the 2021 calendar year, and announced that it will be
welcoming one new member and saying goodbye to another.
• Kathy Vasquez was named board chair. Ms. Vasquez is a
retired University of Toledo administrator who has served the
LCCS board since 2015.
• Suzette Cowell, CEO of the
Toledo Urban Federal Credit Union, was elected vice chair. She
was first named to the LCCS board in 2009.
• Rev. Dr. Donald Perryman, pastor of
Center of Hope Baptist Church, will hold the position of
secretary. He joined the board in 2019.
• John Schinarl will serve
as board treasurer. The Fifth Third Bank vice president was
named to the LCCS board in 2019.
• Laura Wilson,
who has served as board chair since 2015, was named immediate
past president. Ms. Wilson, an attorney with Schaffer &
Associates LPA, has served on the LCCS board since 2012.
The LCCS board names its own slate of officers from members
appointed by the Lucas County Commissioners.
Ms. Vasquez announced that the Commissioners have appointed
Rachel Gagnon, executive director of the Toledo Lucas
County Homelessness Board, to the LCCS board. She is
expected to begin her term at the February meeting. She also
announced that former board member Amy Allen of Toledo
Public Schools opted not to seek reappointment; her term
expired in December 2020.
