Mom’s House celebrated Mother’s Day with parade-style visits
TOLEDO, May 8, 2020: The Mom’s House leadership team celebrated Mother’s
Day by traveling to the homes of their twenty moms to
celebrate them and deliver special gifts.
On Friday, May 8, the
team ventured out in five separate cars with signs, balloons,
and gifts, including Kroger gift cards donated by Nigel Hayes
and Spirit of Toledo hand sanitizer provided by Toledo Spirits,
to encourage their young moms to keep up the amazing work and
reassure them that they are superheroes to their children.
The team has worked diligently to provide as much uninterrupted
programming to families as possible. Many of the moms, who live
with constant turmoil, have struggled to push through yet
another crisis with the pandemic and are on the cusp of
regressing in their growth. In response, Mom’s House is
committed to providing a seamless, virtual model to ensure their
moms have continued stability, access to education and
development, and opportunities for growth.
When COVID-19 and the
resulting stay-at-home order went into effect, the board of
directors and the leadership team of Mom’s House made the
decision to continue all programming virtually.
“Mother’s Day is always a special day at Mom’s House and
this year will be no different,” said Christina Rodríguez,
Executive Director. “We are excited to surprise and pamper our
moms who are working so hard to change the trajectory of their
lives and those of their children.
“Mom's House strives to break
the cycles of poverty and welfare. It is our mission to guide
at-risk, single parents through the process of achieving
educational goals and provide the tools and resources needed to
become effective parents. As part of that, we also need to
acknowledge and celebrate the amazing job they’re doing!”
