Shelby Level named April Rotary Student of the Month

FREMONT, April 24, 2020: Terra State Community College student Shelby Level has been named the College’s Fremont Rotary Student of the Month for April 2020.

The Fremont Ross High School student chose to take College Credit Plus (CCP) classes at Terra State because “It was close to home and my high school had great CCP relations with Terra State.”

“Ms. Level exemplifies the behaviors and results we want from our students by going above and beyond what students ‘should’ do to achieve personal and professional excellence,” said her nominator and science instructor Dr. Mathew Goodman.

Shelby has taken full advantage of her high school experience. She is valedictorian of her high school class and is involved in many high school activities including golf, swimming, band and National Honors Society (NHS). She has received numerous academic awards and has held a variety of leadership positions in the clubs she is involved in.

Her academic success did not stop in high school. At Terra State, Shelby has a 4.0 GPA and has collected 60 credit hours through her CCP classes.

Shelby’s intelligence, hard work and leadership abilities have made her a valuable asset to the community. She has been involved in 4-H for nine years raising livestock and holding a number of administrative positions. She also does volunteer work in the community through NHS and was named the September 2019 Exchange Club Student of the Month.

“Ms. Level has time and time again displayed great personal and professional character through the organizations she is a part of and the honors she has received,” said Goodman. “She has the work ethic, the drive and the capability to reach and surpass her personal goals and to continue to be an asset to other schools and community organizations.”

Shelby is thankful for all she has learned at Terra State. “It has taught me that hard work pays off and it has prepared me for the next chapter of my college education at the University of Toledo (UT).” At UT, she plans to major in Medical Laboratory Science and, eventually, get her masters in microbiology and work for the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) or the World Health Organization (WHO).
