• The Northwest Ohio Hispanic Chamber of Commerce (NOHCC) hosts a holiday open house Tuesday, December 10, 2019, 5:30 to 7 p.m., at the Toledo-Lucas County Port Authority building, 720 Water St., near downtown Toledo. The open house is being hosted by Glass City Radio, which owns oldies and variety hits station WIMX-FM Mix 95.7 and hip-hop R and B station HOT 97.3 Light appetizers and beverages will be provided. Radio station tours will be conducted, along with a meet-and-greet of on-air staff.

 

Feast of Our Lady of Guadalupe: A Celebration of the Feast of Our Lady of Guadalupe will be held at St. Patrick of Heatherdowns, 4201 Heatherdowns Boulevard, on Wednesday, December 11, 2019 beginning with Mass at 6 p.m. It will be a Hispanic traditional Mass with hymns, procession, and prayer. Following Mass, a reception will be held featuring: music; delicious Mexican food; and traditional Mexican dance. It is requested that you please bring a Red Rose to Mass to honor Mary, Patroness of the Americas. The Mass Celebrant will be St. Pat's Pastor, Fr. Mark Davis, assisted by Deacon Salvador Sánchez.

 

• In Wood County, La Conexion is inviting the public to celebrate Our Virgin of Guadalupe at St. Aloysius Church in Bowling Green on Sunday, December 15. There will be a procession at 11:45 a.m. followed by a noon Mass. Then parishioners are encouraged to bring a covered dish for a potluck luncheon from 1 to 3 p.m., along with a piñata and the Celebration of Las Posadas (The Inns), a religious festival that commemorates the journey that Joseph and Mary made from Nazareth to Bethlehem in search of safe refuge where Mary could give birth to baby Jesus.

 

• SAO hosts its annual holiday part at the home of Phil Barbosa and Lisa Mitchell Wednesday, December 18, 6 p.m. Participants are asked to bring nonperishable food items and donations to fill holiday food and gift baskets that will be delivered that evening to several Old South End families in need that have been identified by Ss. Peter and Paul Catholic Church leaders.

Santa Claus will accompany the “elves” on trips to each home. Those “elves” will then return from their mission of goodwill for an evening of food, fun and fellowship.

 

• Yvonne y Fuego will be among the four featured musical acts at The Rise Up LIVE: Holiday Edition to be held Thursday, December 19, 7 to 9 p.m., at Fleetwood’s Tap Room, 28 N. St. Clair St., in downtown Toledo. Admission to the event is a new, unwrapped toy. The toy drive will benefit the children of Lucas County Children Services. The event is organized annually by the Buckeye Cablesystem Arts Network (BCAN) and will be broadcast live. Other featured entertainers include local favorites Brent Lowry, Distant Cousinz, and Grizzly Grits.
