LA PRENSA AT LARGE:
The Farm Labor Organizing Committee (FLOC) presented its
annual Songs of Justice concert on Saturday, Oct. 12,
6:30 p.m., at the Sofia Quintero Art and Cultural Center. The
performance featured FLOC founder and president Baldemar
Velásquez and The Aguila Negra Band. The theme of the
evening was migrants and immigrants. At the end of the
presented a $8,000+ grant to the Sofia Quintero Art and
Cultural Center at its fundraiser so that the Center could
sound-proof the concert area of the Center.
• The Distinguished Hispanic Ohioan Awards (DHO) will be
presented Saturday, Oct. 26, 2019 at an evening gala, 6 to 10
p.m., to be held in the Governor’s Ballroom at the Sheraton
Columbus at Capitol Square, 75 E. State St., Columbus.
The gala honors the outstanding accomplishments of the
Hispanic/Latino community across the state, recognizing
individuals, military servicemen and women, and organizations
who work with and on behalf of the Hispanic/Latino community for
their contributions in Ohio.
