LCCC hosts Jazz Ambassadors of The United States Army Field Band

Lorain County Community College will host the Jazz Ambassadors of the U.S. Army Field Band, the official touring jazz orchestra of the United States Army, in “The Greatest Generation” at 7 p.m. on Monday, July 8, 2019 in the Hoke Theatre of Stocker Arts Center.

"The Greatest Generation" is a tribute to the men and women of World War II. Guests will enjoy many of the classic Big Band Era songs while the story of the war is told through pictures and videos. "The Greatest Generation" focuses on the US-American sentiment, American resolve and American unity that defined this generation with narration that features letters written to and from servicemen and women during the war, as well as famous quotes from the likes of presidents Franklin D. Roosevelt, Harry S. Truman, and Dwight D. Eisenhower.

Formed in 1969, this 19-member ensemble has received great acclaim at home and abroad. The band’s diverse repertoire includes big band swing, bebop, Latin, contemporary jazz, standards, popular tunes, Dixieland, vocals, and patriotic selections, many of which are written or arranged by members of the Jazz Ambassadors.

Recent notable performances include concerts at the Toronto Jazz Festival, the Richmond Jazz Festival at Maymont, the Kennedy Center Honors, the Jazz Education Network Conference, and an appearance on the Colbert Report.
