ACLU to mark 100-year anniversary with Pop-Up Experience

CLEVELAND: The American Civil Liberties Union turns 100 in 2020. To mark the historic milestone, the organization is hosting a two-day interactive exhibition at Cleveland’s Public Square starting on Saturday April 27, 2019 at 10am and running through Sunday evening at 5pm.

The event will bring together artists, like-minded organizations, supporters, and ACLU staff to spark a deeper conversation about the challenging, high stakes civil liberties battles of the nation’s past, present, and future.

“For 100 years, the ACLU has proudly stood alongside brave individuals who dare to create a more just and equitable nation—for all of us,” said J. Bennett Guess, executive director of the ACLU of Ohio. “Now as we face an unprecedented assault on civil liberties, we’re excited to welcome new allies to join us as we confront these pressing challenges to our democracy. This will be a moment to reflect, to reenergize, and to dare to create, together, the future that works for all.”

Visitors will have opportunities to participate in immersive experiences on mass incarceration, immigration, and voting rights.

“Join our community to experience interactive exhibits, hear from activists and influencers, enjoy the work of local artists and musicians, and learn how to take action on issues like mass incarceration, immigration rights, and voting rights,” said Guess.
