Tri-C Gallery East Exhibition explores complicated worlds of ‘Addiction and Recovery’

 

HIGHLAND HILLS: Using art to explore the challenges of addiction and recovery is the focus of an exhibition on view March 7-28, 2019 on the Eastern Campus of Cuyahoga Community College (Tri-C®).

 

The free exhibition — which features more than 100 pieces of artwork in various mediums — will be held at Gallery East in the Education Center. Gallery hours are 10:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Mondays through Thursdays.

 

The 19th annual Art and Healing Exhibition is presented by Tri-C’s Creative Arts and Art Therapy departments and Ursuline College’s Counseling and Art Therapy department. The exhibit is titled “Rising Butterflies: Art of Addiction and Recovery.”

 

The opening reception for the exhibit will take place 6-8:30 p.m. Thursday, March 7.

 

On Thursday, March 28, as part of the closing reception, therapist Bradford Price will lead a discussion on treating addiction and mental illness. The free program featuring Price begins at 7 p.m. The reception will take place from 6-9 p.m.

 

On Friday, March 29, the College will host a workshop featuring art therapist and counselor Janeane Grisez. The session — which includes the creation of silk mandalas — runs 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Cost to attend is $45.

 

Professionals may earn one continuing education credit hour for the March 28 lecture and four continuing education credit hours for the March 29 workshop. To register, complete the form at www.myglobalarts.com/art.

Eastern Campus is located at 4250 Richmond Road in Highland Hills. Gallery East is in room 135 of the Education Center, which is best accessed from Robert Bishop Drive off of Harvard Road.
