Healthcare for Michigan Ballot Plan
LANSING, May 17, 2008: The UAW Region 1A has endorsed the
Healthcare for Michigan ballot proposal, a healthcare
reform plan to fight the spiraling health care crisis, keep high
costs in check and protect families and children. Voters are
signing a petition that seeks to put the issue on the November
ballot.
The Healthcare for Michigan Ballot plan aims to amend Michigan's
constitution and require that state leaders craft a "Health Care
for Michigan Plan" that: ensures that people that currently have
health insurance won't lose it; provides health insurance
coverage for those without it; and controls and reduces health
care costs to provide Michigan businesses relief from the
skyrocketing costs of health care.
Volunteers are visiting communities across Michigan to gather
the more than 340,000 signatures needed to put the Healthcare
for Michigan proposal on the November ballot. To learn more
