Housing Choice Voucher Program (formerly Section 8) Waiting List to Open Temporarily

The Lorain Metropolitan Housing Authority (LMHA) will temporarily open the Housing Choice Voucher Program waiting list beginning Monday, June 24, 2019 at noon until Sunday, June, 30, 2019 at 11:59 pm.  All interested parties MUST complete an online pre-application.  (http://www.lmha.org/apply)  500 applicants will be randomly selected to be placed on the waiting list.  It is projected to take 1-2 years to serve all the families placed on the waiting list.

If you do not have access to a computer, visit your local library or the LMHA Main Office at 1600 Kansas Avenue, Lorain, Ohio.  Applicants are strongly encouraged to provide email addresses in addition to mailing addresses when completing online applications to assist LMHA in efficiently processing the waiting list.

Toledo Municipal Court


The Court is now accepting applications for the part-time position of Court Security Bailiff.  This position is responsible for providing security at the main entrance of the Toledo Municipal Court.  Responsibilities include screening all visitors and packages entering the Court, demonstrated knowledge of de-escalation techniques and ability to establish effective working relationships in a fast-paced environment, and performing law enforcement duties associated with the position.


Graduation from High School or GED required, Associates degree, or completion of a minimum 60 semester hours at an accredited college or university in criminal justice, law enforcement, sociology or related field preferred, but not required. Must be peace officer certified. One year verifiable experience (minimum 1,000 working hours) as a certified Peace Officer or military equivalency required. Two years full time experience working in a court, correctional, or law enforcement preferred but not required. Potential candidates must pass a background check, psychological evaluation and medical evaluation. Starting rate is $23.850 an hour.  Full rate is $26.500 an hour.

Lucas County also has FY2018 Title II Formula Grant funds available for local community projects to support direct services aimed at reducing the disproportionate number of juvenile members of minority groups that encounter the juvenile justice system.
