Financial Assistant – Job Announcement

Advocates for Basic Legal Equality, Inc. (ABLE), a non-profit law firm that provides free, high quality legal assistance to people with low incomes in western Ohio, seeks a Financial Assistant to provide accounts payable and other financial activities for ABLE and its partner Legal Aid of Western Ohio, Inc. (LAWO).  The position will report to the Director of Finance and will be located in ABLE’s Toledo office.

The Financial Assistant will:

Process all accounts payable invoices received for ABLE and LAWO. Perform calculations and code all ABLE and LAWO invoices, check requisitions, travel and training payments/reimbursements, petty cash reimbursement, fund transfers, and client trust account documents.  Process all ABLE and LAWO employee related payments (i.e. pensions checks, garnishments, employee parking, donations, and other related reimbursements.)  Reconcile monthly credit card statement for ABLE and LAWO corporate accounts.  Other duties as requested by the Director of Finance.

Experience and Qualifications:

·         Minimum two (2) years of experience processing accounts payable preferred.

·         Strong attention to detail required.

·         Experience in data entry in computerized accounting system.

·         Proficiency with Microsoft Office Excel, Word and Outlook preferred.

·         Honest, dependable, competent, trustworthy, and have a commitment to legal services and the mission of ABLE and LAWO.

·         Demonstrate and maintain high standards of interpersonal communication, especially relating to effective telephone communication and effective written and oral communication.

·         Must be able to exercise sound judgment and initiative and adhere to the confidential nature of the firm and it practice.

·         Able to work independently on assigned projects.

·         Must fully understand the sensitive and confidential aspects of internal and external communication issues.

·         Possess excellent organizational skills and have the capacity to meet deadlines in a multi-function office environment.

SEALED PROPOSALS for bidding on LUC Metroparks Paving, FY2019 will be received; opened; and read aloud at the Metropolitan Park District of the Toledo Area, Fallen Timbers Field Office, 6101 Fallen Timbers Lane, Maumee, Ohio 43537 Friday, May 10, 2019 at 3:00 p.m. local time.

 

THE SCOPE OF WORK consists of asphalt resurfacing and new asphalt paving of approximately 26,450 square yards of select lots and drives within five Metroparks Toledo locations – all in Lucas County.  General construction includes asphalt paving, catch basin repair & adjustment, pavement planing, pavement marking, concrete curb, and topsoil, seed & mulch.  Bidders may obtain copies of plans, specifications, contract documents and plan-holder’s list through Newfax Corporation, 333 West Woodruff, Toledo, Ohio 43604 between 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday (check made payable to Newfax Corporation) or via the Newfax Digital Plan Room at www.newfaxcorp.com.  Newfax can be contacted at 419-241-5157 or 800-877-5157.  A non-refundable fee of $25 is required for each set of full-size documents obtained.  For additional information, please contact Jon Zvanovec @ 419-360-9184, jon.zvanovec@metroparkstoledo.com

 

EACH BIDDER MUST FURNISH either (1) a bond for the full amount of the bid or (2) a certified check, cashier’s check or irrevocable letter of credit in an amount equal to ten percent (10%) of the bid with its bid.  The successful bidder must furnish a 100 percent (100%) Performance Bond and a 100 percent (100%) Labor and Materials Bond.

 

The bidder must be an Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT) pre-qualified contractor. Pre-qualification status must be in force at the time of bid, at the time of award, and through the life of the construction contract.

Senior Farmers’ Market Nutrition Program 2019

The Area Office on Aging of Northwestern Ohio, Inc. hereby gives notice of the 2019 Senior Farmers’ Market Nutrition Program (SFMNP). Farmers in Defiance, Erie, Fulton, Henry, Lucas, Ottawa, Paulding, Sandusky, Seneca, Williams and Wood counties, who grow and sell fruits, vegetables, herbs and/or honey at farmers’ markets and/or roadside stands are eligible to participate. There are over 20,000 consumers redeeming monies for fresh fruits & vegetables during the growing season.  Interested new farmers or farmers who did not participate in 2018 must attend a mandatory training session on Tuesday, May 7th, 2019 from 10:30-11:30 am, at the Area Office on Aging, 2155 Arlington Ave, Toledo.  You may attend in person or via conference call.  Please call the Area Office on Aging: 419-382-0624 or 800-472-7277 with any questions.
